UNIQUE PULLEY DESIGN
Accuspeed utilizes
a V-ribbed belt concept in combination with modern materials technology to
carry the traditional accuracy of the expanding pulley to new performance
standards.
Th ere are three major elements in the
Accuspeed pulley design; a face plate, 12 precision machined segments on
which the belt rides, and a cone. The face plate and the cone, which
are the carriers for the machined segments, are machined of an engineering
polymer possessing high tensile strength and excellent ductility. The
grooves in the face plate and the cone are precisely matched to accommodate
the segments and their keepers and permit free movement during the expansion
and retraction of the pulley surface.
OPERATING PRINCIPLE
Varying the position
of the cone in relation to the face plate causes the segments to move outwardly
or inwardly in the grooves of the face plate, thereby expanding or contracting
the surface of the pulley. This action is smooth, accurate and stepless,
assuring infinitely variable speed.
V-RIBBED BELT
Because
the V-ribbed driving surface of the belt bottoms completely on the
precision-machined pulley segments, maximum friction between the belt and
the pulley is acheived, resulting in an extremely high load carrying capacity
and positive power transmission. Belt tension is easily established
and maintained. The quality of the belt used assures long service
life. |
